The month of October is recognized as National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every year, international health charities and non-profit organizations focus on raising awareness and research funds to help find a cure for this disease, which takes the lives of more than 40,500 people every year.
This year, BARONS Jewelers has partnered with National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) in its mission to "provide help and inspire hope to those affected by breast cancer through early detection, education, and support services."
"National Breast Cancer Foundation was founded in 1991 by breast cancer survivor, Janelle Hail. She was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1980 at the age of 34. At the time of her diagnosis, there was little information about the disease, and she was forced to make a decision about her health with few options. From now until Saturday, October 27th BARONS Jewelers will donate 5% of the proceeds from each purchase made online or in-store to NBCF (for a maximum donation of $5,000).
For those who would like to participate in another way, stop by the store during business hours for a cup of coffee or a fresh-baked cookie. In exchange, feel free to contribute $1, $2, $5, or any other amount; every cent of these donations will go to the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
